'Top Signs that it's Time to Find a New Job'

Do you feel as though your career has stalled lately? Maybe you feel as though you need to make a huge change but don’t know where to start. Either way, this guide will show you what you can do to turn things around for yourself.

Your Wellbeing is Suffering

Employees who struggle are twice as likely to change jobs when compared to those who are thriving. Managers, in particular, often suffer from very high levels of burnout. This phenomenon is concerning, especially when you look at the fact that managers tend to have the biggest impact on team members. If you feel as though your role is impacting your wellbeing or if you feel as though your health is suffering then this is a major sign that it’s time for you to find a new job.

There’s No Chance for Advancement

Do you constantly feel as though you have stayed in your current job for too long? One reason why you may be feeling a little stuck is that there is no chance for you to advance on a professional level. You should never feel as though you are spending years in a position that doesn’t give you enough room for growth. If you’re a top performer and you aren’t being recognised for the work you are doing, then this is a major sign that something has to change.

The Working Atmosphere is Toxic

Do you feel as though your work environment is toxic? If so then this is a clear sign that you need to change jobs. Toxic work environments can damage your physical health, as well as your mental well-being. If you find yourself to be part of a culture where bullying is tolerated or if morale is low then you need to speak with management. If they’re turning a blind eye, it’s time to move on.

You Don’t Feel Challenged

Are you in the same position as you were two years ago? Can you complete any task in your sleep? If you are getting to the point where you feel overqualified in your current position then it may be that your career has stalled. Try and talk with your manager to see if they can give you more challenging assignments. If they cannot give you more stimulating projects then it could be worth asking them if they can give you different opportunities.

You Aren’t Paid Well

If you are underpaid and overqualified then this is a huge red flag. Try and ask to see if you can get a higher salary before you go ahead and look for a new job. Research compensation and also make a case for yourself, depending on the qualifications you have. If your current boss isn’t recognising your contributions or if they aren’t giving you the support you need then this is a major sign that you have to make a change. If you don’t then you may find that you end up wasting your working years and that you never move up the career ladder.
